Answer

Adult day centres for people with a learning disability offer services from age eighteen years without an upper limit. Some people do leave day centres for reasons associated with their older age and/or related care needs, for example, to nursing home accommodation because of their changing needs.

If someone leaves a day centre because of their older age and remains at home then their domiciliary care needs will be assessed and met in line with eligibility criteria for such services. In such cases the person and their family would continue to receive the support of the learning disability multi-disciplinary team members as appropriate.
