Answer
The completion, subject to funding, of the three Limavady drainage area PC21 upgrade schemes should address most, if not all, of the existing catchment constraints. With a combined cost of around £4.7m the schemes are the catchment upgrades, the Bovally wastewater pumping station upgrade, and the Ballyclose Street combined sewer overflow/unsatisfactory intermittent discharges scheme.
The only limiting factor for residential development is the available headroom capacity at the receiving Limavady wastewater treatment works. NI Water has estimated, using NISRA household projection data and an allowance for non-domestic development, for example such as commercial, industrial and education, that approximately 1,200 domestic properties could be accommodated within the existing headroom capacity.
