Answer

The current projected housing need for the Causeway Coast and Glens area is for 1,010 new social homes between now and 2025.

I can advise that within the Causeway Coast and Glens council area there are currently 154 social housing units under construction.

There are also 126 social housing units programmed to start as part of the Social Housing Development Programme (SHDP) 2021/22 – 2023/24.

Programmed schemes can be lost or slip to future programme years for a variety of reasons e.g. relating to delays in acquiring sites and/or failure to I am committed to increasing the housing units delivered through the Social Housing Development Programme. This will require policy changes, with a particular focus on areas of housing need. We need to ensure new homes are built where houses are needed and my Department is working with the Housing Executive and Housing Associations to identify what actions will need to be taken.
