Answer
The workforce appeal, which was launched by my Department on 23 September, is currently in progress and applications are continuing to be received. The response to the appeal has been outstanding, however, at this stage it is not possible to confirm precise figures with regards the background of individuals who have applied. It is only when the selection process is complete and individuals have been appointed that we would be able to provide the figures requested.
I thank all those who have applied to help out with the Elective Services appeal; all of the appointments made through this campaign will play a vital role in assisting the health service to cope with the additional demands being placed upon it.
