Answer
Through Neighbourhood Renewal, the Department funds two Education projects with a youth focus. The Coleraine Education Community Project (CECP) is a schools based project that has been successfully operating across Coleraine for over ten years, which links nine schools that work within or have significant numbers of pupils from the two Neighbourhood Renewal Areas (NRAs) of Coleraine East (Ballysally and Millburn) and Coleraine West (The Heights and Killowen). This initiative was allocated £43,813.32 in the current financial year.
The second project is the Ballysally Integrated Nurturing Project (BINP) which provides an effective nurturing service for families and individuals of all ages, with a cradle to grave approach of supportive developmental work. This project was allocated £147,706.72 in the current financial year.
In addition to these Neighbourhood Renewal projects, Sport NI, an Arm’s Length Body of the Department, is currently supporting two youth schemes under its ‘Supporting Sport to Build Back Better – Project Re-Boot: Team Up Programme’ – which is funded by the National Lottery. These are:
Limavady Recreation Club which received £23,659 for its ‘Connect, Play, Stay’ scheme; and
St. Canice’s GAC which received £16,191 for its ‘Get Up, Get Out, Get it Right’ scheme.
