Answer

There are currently 2 Major Capital projects and 3 Fresh Start projects in the East Londonderry constituency.

The Rossmar Special School project is in the final stages of completion. Pupils and staff moved into the new school building in April 2021. The existing school building has been demolished and external site works are ongoing. It is expected that the project will be fully complete by 21 December 2021. The overall Business Case is £14.5m

Our Lady of Fatima Primary School is a new build 6 class maintained primary school on a greenfield site at Tamnaherin. This is currently at tender stage for the construction contract and tenders are currently being evaluated by the Education Authority and Department of Education technical advisors before a contract is awarded. The overall Business Case for this project is £3.4m.

Roe Valley IPS, Limavady will be a 7 class base new build. Construction is anticipated to commence winter 2021 and is currently anticipated to hand over in spring 2023. The overall Business case is £6.3m.

Millstrand IPS, Portrush is a 14 class base and double nursery unit new build. Construction is anticipated to commence autumn 2022 and is currently anticipated to hand over winter 2203. The overall Business case is £9.3m.

The Limavady Shared Education Campus includes work to Limavady High School and St Marys Limavady. This will include the provision of shared facilities on both school sites, with shared 6th Form, Careers, Drama and Media on the St Mary’s site and shared STEM facilities on the Limavady High School site. Construction commenced on site March 2021 and is currently anticipated to hand over in spring 2023. The overall Business case is £11m.

Capital Projects are complex by their very nature and a variety of factors can contribute to delays which cumulatively impact on delivery of a project. All programmes will of course be subject to regular review, particularly in light of the ongoing Covid-19 situation.
