Answer
The Department of Education is working with all Executive Departments to develop Climate Action Plans that will reduce energy consumption long-term. The Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs is leading on the Northern Ireland Executive’s Green Growth Strategy, a multi-decade strategy that will balance climate, environment and economic issues in Northern Ireland.
When the Climate Action Plans have been agreed, the Department, in partnership with the Education Authority, will put in place the necessary framework to allow these to be delivered in the schools estate.
