Answer
An adult with a learning disability can receive a referral to day centre following a referral to Social Services and subsequent assessment of need. If an adult with a learning disability does not have a social worker, a referral to Social Services could be made by any professional e.g. GP, Nurse or family member/carer for assessment in respect of day centre service provision. There may also be opportunity for adults with learning disabilities who do not have a social worker to access day activities through their local community or voluntary groups.
