Answer
My Department continues to deliver energy efficiency grant schemes in partnership with the Housing Executive and Local Councils.
The Affordable Warmth Scheme targets low-income households in the owner-occupied and private rented sectors most at risk of fuel poverty. It includes multiple energy efficiency measures such as loft and cavity wall insulation, installation of gas or oil, boiler replacement, replacement windows and solid wall insulation.
The Boiler Replacement Scheme, open to owner-occupiers with an annual household income of less than £40,000, provides a grant of up to £1,000 towards the cost of replacing old and inefficient boilers over 15 years old.
The cost-of-living crisis is having major impact, particularly on those who are already struggling financially.
I am deeply frustrated that the continued absence of a functioning Executive and agreed Executive budget prevents additional measures being introduced.
My Department will do all it can to support those experiencing hardship, and all options are being explored to provide both immediate and medium to longer term interventions.
