Answer

On 9 March 2022, the Education Authority (EA) published a series of Development Proposals (DPs) in relation to the Causeway Area. DPs 676–680 propose the closure of Coleraine College, Dunluce School and North Coast Integrated College (IC) and the establishment of a new Controlled IC which will include Autism specific and Learning Support Classes. The statutory two-month objection period concluded on 23 May 2022.

My officials are currently collating all responses received by the Department, along with all other pertinent information and will provide me with a detailed submission to assist me in taking decisions that are in the best interest of all learners.

Unfortunately, I am unable to offer a specific date for a decision. I appreciate the importance of a timely decision regarding the proposals and I am acutely aware of the need for certainty for the interested parties. I will not delay a decision any longer than necessary.
