Answer

The recording of information on persons arrested and charged by police is a matter for the Chief Constable, who is accountable to the Northern Ireland Policing Board. I am committed to respecting the operational independence of the Chief Constable and the role of the Northern Ireland Policing Board.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland maintain their own statistics on persons arrested and charged by them. You may, therefore, wish to direct any query relating to the issues raised in parts (i) and (ii) of the question to the PSNI.

In relation to the information requested in part (iii) of the question, prosecutions and convictions datasets held by the Department do not contain detail in relation to the location in which an offence occurred, so it is not possible from information held, to identify cases where there has been a successful prosecution in relation to gun attacks in the Causeway Coast and Glens area, in the last three years.
