Answer
The Education Authority (EA) has initiated a project to locate Coleraine College, Dunluce School and North Coast Integrated College on a single site by the effective date of the amalgamation, 1 September 2026.
All three existing school sites are being considered, as well as the former site of Coleraine High School on the Lodge Road. The EA will also engage with the University of Ulster to clarify any options for a new school however, the long-term ambition of the school for a new school building will require major capital investment and at this time there is no open call for major capital works.
Any identified works required to implement the amalgamation will likely fall in 2025/26 and 2026/27 financial years. My Department does not have its capital budget beyond 2024/25 so I am unable to provide any assurances regarding the availability of capital budget at this time.
