Answer
This issue is an operational matter for the Housing Executive and I have sought the requested information from the Chief Executive, who has advised me as follows:
“(i) The Housing Executive is not in a position to provide any information to quantify the number of individuals who are homeless but not in contact with any government agency, as the Housing Executive only collects data for homeless presentations.
(ii) Hidden homelessness is acknowledged in the Housing Executive ‘Homelessness Strategy 2022-27’, where it notes that it is necessary to ensure that these “hidden households” are provided with the means to access the housing and support services they may require. Through the ‘Homelessness Strategy 2022-27’ we seek to ensure that relevant actions are developed around increasing awareness alongside the development of protocols for partner public services which will be delivered in order to engage with those who are considered as hidden homeless.”
For any future queries relating to operational matters, you may wish to contact the Housing Executive directly. Making direct contact with the Housing Executive will ensure that you receive the information in the shortest possible timeframe and make best use of public resources.
