To ask the Minister of Education what measures are in place to support pupils who experience food insecurity, but do not meet the current eligibility threshold, for free school meals.

The Department continues to provide nutritious free school meals to children entitled to these meals during the school term to ensure families most in need get the support they require.

Families who do not meet the eligibility criteria are encouraged to contact the “Make the Call Service” to check if they are receiving all the benefits, services and supports that they are entitled to. Details of this service can be found at www.nidirect.gov.uk/contacts/make-call-service.
