Answer
Major Road schemes are an important part of the work that is delivered by my Department as we seek to reduce journey times, increase reliability and improve road safety.
My Department is in the process of developing a new Transport Strategy that will help to shape the vision and strategic priorities for transport through to 2035. Once this is published, it will help to inform the Transport Plan for the Regional Strategic Transport Network, which includes the A2 at Ballykelly.
A preferred route for Ballykelly Bypass was announced in 2010 and since then no further development work has been undertaken on the project. If the A2 Ballykelly scheme is prioritised within the Transport Plan, this route would then be reassessed as part of the plan for scheme delivery.
