Answer

The Ending Violence Against Women and Girls Strategic Framework sets out a cross-government approach to tackling gender-based violence, with success reliant on coordinated action and clear accountability. As a key priority within the Programme for Government (2024–2027), it underscores the Executive’s firm commitment to driving meaningful change.

We remain fully committed to delivering the Framework, with oversight provided through the EVAWG Oversight Board, chaired by Junior Minister Reilly and Junior Minister Bunting. Membership includes Permanent Secretaries of all NICS Departments which ensures informed decision making and accountability.Departments are embedding EVAWG principles in all relevant policies, strategies, and service delivery. Progress is subject to regular reporting to Ministers, the Executive, and Assembly Committees. An update on progress of the Strategy is made to the Executive twice a year.

We will continue to work collaboratively with all Departments to ensure that the Strategy is not only implemented but embedded as a core part of government policy and practice.
