Answer
All Universal Credit front line staff receive comprehensive training to ensure they can support claimants with complex needs, including vulnerable adults with a learning disability. This training includes detailed material on identifying and responding to complex needs, guidance on the range of support available and skills-based learning designed to enhance their ability to provide tailored assistance to ensure that claimants receive appropriate and effective support throughout their Universal Credit journey.
To further strengthen this learning and enhance capability, my Department’s Work Psychology Service, in partnership with Mencap, developed and delivered staff capacity building events on supporting customers with learning disabilities.
