Answer
My Department has fully considered the role of parking and accessibility in supporting footfall and town centre regeneration in towns such as Coleraine and Limavady. This is reflected in the Masterplan Reviews completed for both towns in partnership with Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council.
The 2020 Coleraine Masterplan Review identified parking and accessibility as essential to increasing footfall, and these factors are embedded within the Outline Business Case for the Coleraine Leisure and Wellbeing Centre, a key Causeway Growth Deal project led by my Department. Similarly, the 2024 Limavady Masterplan Review highlighted parking pressures and the importance of improving accessibility.
My Department continues to work closely with the Council to prioritise regeneration projects, ensuring that parking and accessibility considerations are integral to public consultations and the development of all business cases.
