To ask the Minister of Justice to detail (i) any engagement that has taken place with her Department and the Department of Finance, regarding funding options for the Police Service of Northern Ireland holiday pay liabilities; and (ii) any options that are currently under consideration.

I appreciate fully the length of time this matter has been ongoing, and I recognise the frustration and uncertainty experienced by current and former PSNI officers and staff whose claims span more than a decade. The Supreme Court judgment in October 2023 has provided important legal clarity, and the Department is therefore treating the resolution of this issue as a priority.

Holiday Pay is an exceptional pressure and whilst I cannot give a definitive timeframe at this stage, I want to reassure you that my department is working closely and constructively with the PSNI to progress the Holiday Pay business case as quickly as possible.
