Answer
The Northern Ireland Policing Board (the Board), in its role as scheme manager, has assured my Department that work on the McCloud remedy is a priority for the Police Pensions Branch. In line with Government guidance, Remediable Service Statements (RSS) have been progressed for active officers since October 2023. I am aware that the March 2025 deadline was not met for retired officers. The Board has communicated with the Pension Regulator and my Department regarding the cause of the delay which includes both data accuracy and technical issues. I am assured that the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) Pensions Branch communicates with their members by publishing updates on their website.
I appreciate the delay is disappointing; however, I am assured that both the Board and the PSNI are working to resolve the issues to ensure members, including retired officers, receive an accurate RSS as soon as possible.
