Answer

While the Department of Justice has responsibility for overarching policy and legislative changes to police pensions regulations, the management and administration of the police pension scheme is the responsibility of the Northern Ireland Policing Board (the Board), in its role as police pension scheme manager.

The Board advise they have engaged with the Northern Ireland Retired Police Officers Association (NIRPOA), the Police Federation, and the Superintendents Association Northern Ireland (SANI) regarding the delays, and all organisations are committed to providing advice to affected Members.

All three representative bodies sit on the Police Pension Scheme Advisory Board for Northern Ireland, providing a forum through which they can raise any concerns or issues on behalf of their members.
