Answer
The Education Authority (EA), as proposer of the Development Proposal to establish the new Causeway Academy, is proceeding with its implementation.
The new Causeway Academy opened this month and will operate across the three existing sites. From September 2027 Causeway Academy will operate from two sites, Carthall Road Campus and Cloyfin Campus.
The Bushmills Campus will close for pupils at the end of June 2027. EA is currently reviewing options for the future use of the Dunluce School site in Bushmills.
While it is preferable to operate on a single site basis, the newly amalgamated schools will, in the main, operate on a split site basis until it secures a place to advance in planning under the major capital works programme.
The Education Authority’s vision remains for a new build for Causeway Academy, however, Causeway Academy will operate from the existing sites until it is approved for major capital investment.
