Answer
Departmental officials have engaged with the CMA and the Consumer Council on matters relating to the home heating oil market, including the CMA's recent market study. However, this work did not concern petrol or diesel pricing.
Recent increases in petrol and diesel prices have been driven by international market factors and responsibility for investigating competition concerns in the road fuel market rests with the CMA. The CMA has stated they will continue to monitor wholesale and retail price correlation.
Accordingly, no actions have arisen from engagement on recent petrol and diesel price increases.
