Answer

Adult day care provision caters for a wide range of needs and a broad age range.

Some centres cater for a varied clientele including older people, people with disabilities and people with dementia. Activities are therefore organised on an individual or group basis to meet the needs of discrete and compatible groups of clients. People with mental ill health and learning disabilities are usually catered for in specialist rather than generic centres.

Statutory sector day care is further augmented by a number of voluntary and community sector providers, often with a specialist focus, to cater for particular categories of need. Some of these contracted services may be more vocational in nature.
