Answer
I would refer the Member to the response given to AQO 2774/17-22 which provides details on previous improvements works (some of which fall outside the five-year time frame).
The Assembly Commission strives to be an exemplar organisation in terms of sustainable development and has implemented a range of measures to enhance energy efficiency and to improve the environmental performance of Parliament Buildings.
To reduce our energy consumption the following works have been carried out:
Installing additional metering systems to allow for better management of usage;
Installing LED lighting on Basement, 2nd, 3rd and 4th floor corridors and in offices on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors;
Installing more energy efficient LED external lighting around the building;
Installing more energy efficient LED lighting in the Assembly Chamber;
In collaboration with the Department of Finance, replacing the lights in the Upper and Lower car parks with new LED lights; and
Replacing the TVs in Parliament Buildings with more energy efficient models.
Staff in the Assembly Commission’s Sustainable Development Unit work closely with partners to introduce energy-saving solutions and ensure continuous improvement in our energy efficiency.
