Answer
I met the Vice-Chancellor of the Ulster University on 2 May 2024 to discuss the university’s ambitions and intentions, including its plans for introducing veterinary related courses, and its considerations relating to a veterinary school. No further discussions have been sought by the third-level institutions on this matter.
In terms of support, decisions on which courses to offer are for the universities themselves, in conjunction with the Department for the Economy, but my Department is happy to engage with the universities on relevant aspects related to DAERA’s responsibilities as needed.
