Answer
All TV advertisements go through the Broadcast Clearance process with Clearcast.
During this process Clearcast provides instructions as to the time of day an advertisement is permitted to be broadcast.
Some TV advertisements receive instructions to be broadcast all day, some after 7.30pm, others are permitted all day except around children’s programme and the more graphic advertisements after 9pm, so as to take account of audience age.
My Department always complies with these instructions.
Advertisements online are targeted to adults only in the North of Ireland, unless the content is intended for a younger audience.
Cinema advertising receives age classifications, which again my department always complies with.
